Change is coming to the 400-acre property North of Bond Road and adjacent to Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park.
The land owner, Raydient Corporation, has requested a change in zoning to quadruple the number of properties that can be built on this rural wooded land. The proposal would increase housing density from 1 house per 20 acres to 1 house per 5 acres. Raydient has proposed that a small portion (possibly 20 acres) of the 400 acres be used for a sports multiplex consisting of a YMCA, sports fields, parking lots, and restaurant. A major housing development would be built on the remaining 380 acres. (Actual numbers have not been confirmed)
The proposed high density housing development and sports complex represents an existential change to our rural community. The proposal conflicts with the mandates of the Growth Management Act and would cause environmental damage.
