This page has some maps that are screenshots either from the Kitsap county Critical Areas PDF file or, taken from the Kitsap Parcel search page with some features toggled on. One such option will show streams, another, critical aquifers. A third checkbox helps with looking at the Comprehensive Plan.
This image is from the Kitsap parcel search while focused on the proposed rezone area. This illustrates via the critical aquifer checkbox being enabled, that the proposed site sits over a critical aquifer. Kitsap county, more than other counties in the state, relies upon aquifers fed by rains in order for us to have clean, safe drinking water. This is one reason why this area's zoning should not change. The orange color indicates Category II critical aquifer recharge area while the pinkish color indicates watershed drainage.
This map illustrates the creeks and streams that flow from the proposed rezone area and toward Gamble Bay. Keeping these waters safe is essential to the well being of the shellfish and fish that live in these waters and are essential for the local tribes like the Port Gamble S'Klallam and Suquamish people.
Kitsap County has a Critical Areas map that is a dense PDF format file. This image was made by zooming that to 300-percent while focused upon the proposed Raydient rezone request area. The legend for this map, at this zoom level, is off to the side and out of view. Once this content is integrated into other GIS maps the county has, it will be easier to access this data.
This map also shows the streams layer with sources of upland waters feeding into Gamble Bay. These waters need to be protected.
